Hello, it’s me again, this time with a second post in this mini series. This one is about Oracle cards.
So. What on Earth are Oracle cards?
Well, it seems like these cards are a tool for divination and divination is, as Oxford Languages says:” the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means.”
And I totally agree with this statement, even if it has all these weird words, at least to me being a non English person :)
To me, these cards are pretty brilliant and a great tool to have for insights about things and events I otherwise have no other way of getting answers to.
They are a bridge between us and Spirit world and when I say Spirit world I am talking about either our Higher Selves or our very own Spiritual Team that is always present and supports us even if we are not aware of it. Our Team, that can have many Guides and Helpers, talks to us through these cards. Or we get answers straight from our True Self and it is only by practicing a lot that we get to discern who is actually “talking”. Not that it really matters, at least to me. I am always very happy to receive guidance when I ask for it and Oracle cards are the simplest way to get it.
There are no rules about Oracle card decks as in, which size they should be or how many cards there should be in a deck. All of this and more, lies in the hands of their creators.
How to choose your Oracle deck?
In my opinion, the deck kinda calls YOU :) You might be attracted to the artwork but I believe it’s the energy of the deck that draws you in. Every deck has it’s own energy and some appear to have better connection to Spirit than others. To me, it’s all about the connection and intention behind the deck that was imbued in by its author(s) and this is what we pick up on when we go to a shop and see what calls us. It is also the reason why we don’t use the same deck for all the questions, unless we have only one of course. But I challenge you to have and stick to just one :D
When I am ordering via an on-line store, I like to see all the cards first and I do that by searching for a deck review or flip through on You Tube. It served me well so far and I only wish I did this with all of my decks.
It is also very interesting to observe how sometimes a deck simply disappears from our radar, like it’s done its job and can retire or wait for a different time in our life when something will change and we shall need its assistance again.
How to use Oracle cards?
The simplest way of using Oracle cards is by focusing on a question while we are shuffling our deck and then choosing one card and seeing what it tells us. Every deck comes with a little book that has more info about each card so that we don’t only receive a visual or one word or sentence that are usually written on the card itself.
The more we practice the more we are going to receive from the cards. Sometimes, as I pick my card, I get an answer appearing in my head out of nowhere and I totally KNOW this is what I needed to hear and I don’t even go and open the book to see what is written there.
There is also no right or wrong way of picking a card from the deck. I prefer to work with the cards that jump out and my Team knows it so that’s what usually happens. If a card just doesn’t want to jump out I change the deck as I get the feeling it’s not the one that has the right answer. The card I get is usually spot on but if I don’t understand the message, I ask for clarification and go for the second card.
Authors also come up with their own suggestions on how to use multiple cards for a reading and they tell us how to do it in the book that comes with the deck.
Intention is everything with these cards.
By this I mean, you set an intention of receiving an answer to your question before and while you are working with/shuffling your deck. Also, let your Team know how you intend to pick your card. Will it be by just picking one up from the top of the shuffled deck when you feel like doing so, will you spread all the cards on the table and choose one that feels right, will you split your deck in half and pick the bottom card from the lower portion, …. there’s loads of possibilities here so let them know what you will do.
As in all things here on Earth, we have our own free will so you can always disregard the answers that come from the cards. There are always multiple possibilities of tackling our situations and how future events will unfold, so practice with your deck until you have your own ways figured out and see what does or doesn’t work for you. It’s a bit like GPS in our car when it sometimes insists to drive straight ahead when we see there’s a lake directly in front of us. There is a possibility that there will be a ferry arriving to our spot later on, or, our map hasn’t been updated aka we don’t have all the information we need at the time so we do not drive straight and take the longer route around the lake :)
As I can’t think of anything more to add to this I shall wrap up but if I missed anything important and you know it, please let me know. I’m always just a sentence away ;)
Oh and do share your favourite Oracle deck(s) with me, I’d love to check them out!
With much love,
♥
