First 8 days of Sketchpacking
Practice in Seeing
Time sure flies when one is having fun, right? Well, I managed to keep up with my new daily practice of working in my little handmade “activated” sketchbook and as I promised in my previous post, I’m now back to show you what is happening in it.
Here’s how my first two pages looked like before I put my pen to paper:
nd here’s what I noticed after having a closer look:
It was really cool that I went and picked up the word from my little paper bag after I finished my page because the word as you can see was “see” which gave me the confirmation that what I’m doing here is indeed seeing, noticing things, that creatures on my page are seeing/reading things as well and that the whole theme of this year’s Sketchpack Project needs to be called “Seeing”. And so it is!
For my second page I also pulled out a word which in a way described situation pretty interestingly too.
Here are my empty pages for day 3 and 4, what do you see? :)
And here’s what I saw:
It’s so funny how day 3 turned out to be an underwater scene and day 4 was all about protection we are constantly receiving from higher realms.
What I’m actually doing here is having a lovely “conversation” with my Higher Self via the act of creating. I am allowing Nini (my Higher Self) to show me things and use my hand to draw/outline them for me. These images are messages for me as there’s no different intention behind this project other than me having fun. And I am having fun indeed. It’s very surprising to see all these creatures and things come to life on the pages.
I decided to drop picking up the words from the paper bag and leave them for the next little sketchbook. Maybe even for September and I’ll invite you to draw along and I’ll share my words with you. What do you say?
Right, let’s get back to seeing what else happened :) Empty pages for day 5 and 6:
And the result:
I’m always so happy to spot a fox. Foxes seem to be my mascot in a way ever since I returned from Helsinki (or so says my mom because I bought myself a wee tiny magnet with an adorable simple illustration with a fox on it there). I believe I have a thing for foxes since I first encountered the beautiful story of Little Prince which I know impacted me profoundly. Even in ways that are quite magical.
Pages 7 and 8 being all empty and a bit too white as it was quite difficult to spot anything but I managed and am very proud of it!
Funny that today (day 8) two creatures were reading; one in bath tub and the other one just while sitting down.
And this concludes my round-up for the first 8 days of this fun project. It’s really not too late for you to jump in you know. If you’d like to be part of the group on FB then jump in here or if not, do it for your self - your soul (Higher Self) will be grateful for any chance of connection it will get. Pick a theme and follow it through the month or do what I do, it’ll be fun in both cases.
Let me know if you decide to start drawing too and tell me where I can see your pages. I’d love to have a look as I love seeing what others create and come up with.
Wishing you a lovely week and week-end and see you back in 8 days!
With much love,
♥
